God tests people to reveal the true state of our hearts, strengthen our faith, and helps to build spiritual maturity.
God is Omniscient (knowing everything, having unlimited understanding, or seeing all things). God’s present or past knowledge of us does not improve our character, but going through the trials (struggle) does. - SELF TRANSFORMATION
ITS GOD'S STANDARD PRACTICE :) That's how it works
Its ok for God to test us, but not the other way ( that we don't test God ).
Tests will help us to know where our Faith stands. ( It teaches ourself than God )
Tests will truly show what we believe under pressure.
Tests helps us to grow our Faith.
Inner Refinement: Tests will builds our inner strength and patience, similar to our muscles will get stronger when we do heavy lifting.
Tests will help us to grow like Christ, trusting God more.
Test (trials) is different from Tempatations. Test, comes from God, where as Temptation comes from self or evil to tear us down. Temptation is our wordly desire, which make us to sin.
James 1:13 God Cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.
Satan cannot test beyond what God has allowed. All our test/trials work toward God's perfect purpose and our benefit.
James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:3-4 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Job 1:22 In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.
Job is a perfect example of God allowing him to be tested by devil. Job bore all the test patiently and did not sin.
Faith is the most important muscle in the Christian life, and God is committed to strengthening it. It’s not just how you “get saved.” It’s how you live every day as a follower of Christ. Everything in the Christian life grows in the soil of faith.
In the Christian walk, God does not give us faith just so we can hold onto it safely. He gives us faith so it can be used, stretched, and proven.
If Faith is the muscle, and the test is the resistance weight. One cannot grow without the other.
"Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead" (James 2:17)
It's easy to talk about Forgiveness, but really difficult when we really want to forgive someone. Action matters :)
" Our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did." (James 2:21-22)
James explicitly say that Abraham faith was "complete" by his actions.
Genesis 22:9-10 ... He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
Abraham action shows how much faith he have. God did not stop him at the foot of the mountain. He did not interrupt the three-day journey. He did not speak when the altar was being built. He waited until the knife was raised — until Abraham’s obedience had reached its absolute limit — before the angel of the Lord called out from heaven.
This is how it works, its a lifecycle :)
[ Active Faith ](Belief put into daily practice) ➔ [ Divine Test ] (Heavy resistance allowed by God) ➔ [ Endurance & Proof ](Overcoming by relying on God's strength) ➔ [ Stronger Faith ]( The "muscle" expands for greater challenges)
Tests Expose the True Condition of Faith:
A ship’s hull isn’t proven seaworthy while sitting in a calm harbor; its strength is revealed in a storm.
Testing shows whether our faith is anchored in God’s character or just in our comfortable circumstances.
Tests Transform Theory into Reality:
Before a test, faith is often just a concept in our heads (e.g., "I believe God provides").
During a test—like a sudden job loss—that concept is forced to become a living reality as we actively trust Him for our daily bread.
Faith is "Made Complete" through the Process:
James 2:22 says of Abraham, "his faith was made complete by what he did."
A test is the environment where raw belief matures into unshakable conviction.
Abraham was tested by God multiple times including life changing major events. Each trial forced him to push his comfort to next level.
Abraham did not lift the weight perfectly every time. He stumbled on multiple tests (#2, #3, and #5) by choosing shortcuts over active faith. God did not kick him out of the gym; He used those failures to refine Abraham’s focus.
Note, Test #1 was just leaving his home. Test #10 was sacrificing his own child. God built his spiritual muscle gradually so he would be strong enough to withstand.
