1 Corinthians 5:7 NIV 7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
Jesus, the true Passover Lamb, willingly gave His life so that judgement might pass over us and we can be reconciled to God.
Why did Jesus die ?
What did the cross actually do ?
What did the crucification really mean ?
What did God really see from the above ? What is actually unfolding at the crucification of Christ ?
Passover is the central Salvation story for Jewish people, celebreated as week-long festival and it begins with a meal. At that meal, called Passover, a lamb is slaughtered, prepared, cooked and shared together in a feast amongst family and friends.
In the Old Testament, Passover served as the catalyst for the Mosaic (Old, named after Moses) Covenant, while in the New Testament, Jesus redefined the Passover meal to inaugurate the New Covenant.

Old Covenant
In the Bible, the timing of Passover is established through specific instructions given in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers.
Passover is the foundational, redemptive covenant seal (sign) between God and Israel, established during the Exodus to mark his protection via the lamb's blood.
Exodus 12:6 NIV 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.
Leviticus 23:5 "The Lord’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month".
Numbers 9:3 Observe it at its appointed time, on the 14th day at twilight.
The lambs were to be slaughtered at twilight (literally "between the two evenings" in Hebrew).

New Covenant

Matthew 26: 26-30 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” ( body is broken for the forgiveness of sins )
27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Exodus 3:7-8 7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them
FOR THIS REASON GOD DID PASSOVER. GOD RESCUED THEM NOT BY SEEING THERE FAITH, BUT HEARED THERE CRY OF RESCUE FROM SLAVERY.
GOD WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THERE SUFFERING.
John 19:36 ... “Not one of his bones will be broken...

Romans 5:9 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved
JESUS CAME TO RESCUE US OUT OF SLAVERY FROM SIN AND DEATH INTO THE FREEDOM OF LIFE IN GOD'S KINGDOM.
JESUS IS THE PASSOVER LAMB THAT IS SLAUGHTERED AND SLAIN SO THAT PEOPLE WILL BE RESCUED.
Luke 22:14-15 NIV 14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
This is the reason JESUS DIED.
JESUS BELEIVED THAT THIS HIS PURPOSE. HIS DEATH IN THE CROSS ISTO FREE US FROM SLAVERY INTO THE FREEDOM OF LIFE IN GOD'S KINGDOM.
JESUS DOESN'T BECOME OUR PASSOVER LAMB BECAUSE OF OUR FAITH, BUT BECAUSE HE SEES OUR MISERY, OUR SINS AND OUR SUFFERING.
Romans 5:6-8 NIV 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Colossians 1:19-20 ESV
19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
